David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Sunday that the hockey club has recalled Trevor Smith from the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies.  

Smith, 29, has two goals, three assists and 12 penalty minutes in eight regular season games with the Toronto Marlies so far this season. The 6-1, 195-pound forward, who serves as the Marlies’ team captain, has skated in a total of 52 NHL games, collecting seven goals, eight assists, 15 points and eight penalty minutes.

The Maple Leafs return to the ice tonight when they visit the Ottawa Senators at 6 p.m. For their part, the Marlies continue their eight-game road trip when they visit the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres) on Friday, November 14.
