On Thursday September 6th, 2012 Stage 18 will be started in Tour of Spain, as the Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank) won stage 17 of the Vuelta a Epaña with a stunning and surprising get away. This win is helping him to cruise his way into not only at the top of table but also taking over the distinct lead.
Stage 18 has a flat category with a total 890m high point over a distance of 186.4km; it starts from Aguilar de Campoo to Valladolid.
This stage is not so difficult in terms of slapdash way but wind will play an important role in terms of danger and difficulty of this track. This is an extremely speedy stage. It scampers more or less downhill into Vallodolid. This is an exceptionally windy area, though. Normally, it will be a lot sprint but the wind will decide whether it’s a big group or a small group that challenges it.
The candidates will have to take extra care during the windy climax of this stage. It finishes in the plain sailing of Valladolid. It will suit experienced players and their attack could break the bunch before the end.
