New Minimal Music from Finland
Kalle Vainio is a Finnish composer and pianist. He graduated master of music from the Art University Helsinki Sibelius Academy 2012 and is currently teaching composition and music theory in the same University. Vainio has composed music for many different ensembles with many different styles. For many years now minimal music has been the focal point of his
creation. Not only American tradition of it, but ancient Finnish folk music has also been very important inspiration to him.
Vainio has been developing new ways of composing and performing minimal music; notation methods, preparation of instruments, visual scores and realization of surroundings etc. For himself he has created artistic profile called Project Vainiolla where he plays his own compositions for piano. This project aims to search every aspect of the instrument as well as find
inspiring performing venues for presenting new piano music. Project Vainiolla has released two albums Animus (2015) and Metamorphosis (2016).
In this concert Kalle Vainio will premiere two of his latest minimalistic compositions: Modifications and op·por·tu·ni·ty
