Yes, that’s right: it’s time for us to screen Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo – the sequel that launched oh-so-many jokes about its unconventional subtitle.
This campy, neon-drenched flick is chockfull of all the dance scenes you could ever want! A dance battle between two rival gangs? Check. An inexplicable dance party in a hospital where even the severely injured patients join in? Check! A gravity-defying dance solo on the ceiling of a house?! CHECK! And the filmmakers were even generous enough to throw in a flimsy plot about saving a community youth center from being torn down and turned into a generic shopping mall – which obviously offers a number of opportunities to boo a greedy, rich white guy villian! BOO BOOOO, I say!
So don’t miss out on this incredibly 80s movie! And if you’re worried that you need to watch the original Breakin’ first… oh you sweet, innocent thing, you’re really overestimating the complexity of this film series.
