Yundi Plays the "Emperor"

Chinese pianist Yundi makes his long-awaited Hollywood Bowl debut with the LA Phil. This will be one of the musical highlights of the summer as the acclaimed pianist performs Beethoven’s beloved Emperor Concerto. James Gaffigan will also lead the orchestra in a performance of Shostakovich’s dramatic Fifth Symphony, a piece tailor-made to showcase the LA Phil’s impressive brass section. Yundi has been dazzling international audiences ever since he won first prize at the 14th Chopin International Piano Competition at the age of 18, becoming the youngest and first Chinese winner in the history of the competition.
