Jackie Collins did the world a favor by talking about why she SHOULD have gotten regular mammograms because it might have saved her life. She talked about her cancer for the first time in her big interview withPeople magazine and died five days later. A coincidence? We think not. Jackie had just returned from London where she appeared on TV and told her sister Joan about her disease. Usually people in the last weeks of terminal illness are in NO condition to travel or appear on TV. We think Jackie had everything carefully timed. When she started feeling awful, instead of taking to her bed, she chose to end her own life. Gracefully. She avoided weeks or months of pain and anguish for her family. Jackie is our hero. It’s too bad that physician assisted suicide is not yet legal in California because this news cannot be publicized. We need to speed up the legal process and make this choice available for all Californians. It’s the civilized way to die.
