Ranbir Kapoor gently wipes out lipstick from Katrina Kaif’s lips and applies it on his own lips, a languid posture follows while Kaif stares at Kapoor with an intense longing. The ‘World of Jagga Jasoos’ is imbued with this and many more fascinating montages that made me look at the mobile phone screen with a sense of wonder. I can say this to Anurag Basu, ‘Der aaye par durust aaye’. Cinematographer Ravi Varman captures the constant roller coaster world of Jagga in a world class manner.
The two minute forty four second trailer is layered with extraordinary symphonic sound of Pritam. There are no dialogues. A trailblazing run through the lavish fields of gold on the back of ostriches, running on top of a fast moving train, unusual disguises and the togetherness of a beautiful looking couple. Both Ranbir and Katrina look extremely young. Ranbir being the daring actor that he is thankfully moves away from the several similar romantic roles of the recent past. When the stakes of experimentation is high then much more is expected and Ranbir is a rare actor who is a unique commodity and is willing to take the plunge from the mountain of creativity to fly like a bird.
Anurag Basu may have taken time in finally locking Jagga Jasoos but he seems to have made something really special. Now, only thing that I genuinely hope for is that the closet of ‘inspirations’ wouldn’t open up once again. I pray that its original for it looks like a masterpiece.
