On this day 65 years ago, the definition of international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) was established by the United Nations. World NGO Day to raise awareness and recognize the importance of the NGOs worldwide.
World NGO Day raises awareness about the international initiative and NGO sector, its value to society and individuals that dedicate their time. This day also aims to inspire collaboration between different NGOs and inspire people to become more actively involved.
Richard McGowan, Executive Director of EIC expressed his own pride in EIC’s work. “I am proud of the consortium that we’ve created with ADRA Canada and CCF Canada. Together, we’re helping reduce the struggle that many African women and children face in childbirth and early years.”
This program, dubbed PROMISE (Maternal, newborn, Infant and child Sustainable health Efforts), is reaching to thousands of lives through various programs, clinics and donor packages. This Project was undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through Global Affairs Canada and is just one example of collaboration between Canadian NGOs making a difference in our world.
“Working together, we can build a stronger future helping the world’s neediest people, solving the many root causes of poverty and suffering affecting hundreds of millions of people each day,” stated McGowan.
On World NGO Day, EIC honours and remembers each one of our employees, volunteers, members and supporters. There are vast numbers of individuals who have devoted themselves to making a difference changing one life a day.
