Windsor police arrested the sole suspect involved in a local murder

The Windsor Police Service is investigating a homicide which occurred on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at approximately 11:00 p.m. in the 1400 block of Albert Rd. in the City of Windsor.

Uniformed WPS Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Albert Rd. for a report of a stabbing.  Upon arrival, responding officers located a 40 year old male suffering from multiple stab wounds.  The victim was transported to Hotel-Dieu Hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced dead.  The victim was a Windsor resident and his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.   

The homicide is being investigated by the WPS Major Crimes Unit and is currently ongoing.  Investigators will be conducting search warrants at a number of locations today.  

Windsor Police arrested a 30 year old male suspect this morning at 7:00 a.m. at Windsor Police Headquarters.  He is currently in custody and he will appear in Provincial Court later this afternoon where he will be arraigned on a charge of First Degree Murder.  

Windsor Police have not recovered the weapon that was used in the homicide.  The Windsor Police Service would like to assure the citizens of Windsor that there are no continuing public safety issues as a result of this incident and they are not looking for any other suspects in this homicide.
