Dr Machar said that land grabbing is fueling more problems in Central Equatorial State.
Dr Machar spoke during a prayer session organised at Governor Clement Wani Konga’s house following his arrival from treatment in Germany.
“In your absence there has been mass grabbing of land in Juba. We wish you to recover soon and address this issue,” Dr Machar said.
“Issues of land grabbing tend to increase conflicts. Central Equatoria State needs to find a long lasting solution to this issue,” he added.
Machar referred to an incident that happened in March this year where eight people lost their lives in a conflict that arose in Komiru, Juba.
However, despite bold move by the National assembly on the matter, he said land conflicts are still on increase.
The Legislative Assembly in its last session debated on land matters as it was discovered the state government has no land law that regulates issues of land in the state.
The parliament in a move to address the issue had passed a resolution tasking the State Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure to draft a land law and submit it to the house for ratification.
