On September 16th, 2010 members of both the DRPS Problem Response Unit and Central East Division conducted an investigation into an anonymous complaint regarding marihuana plants seen in a residential neighborhood on Southridge Street in Oshawa.
Officers attended the area and observed several plants growing in the back yard which were openly visible to members of the public. Contact was made with one of the homeowners and a consent search was then conducted by officers, who located 34.1 kilograms of marihuana in a backyard shed as well as a replica handgun. The total drug street value of the seizure is estimated to be $345,000.00.
Riccardo DASILVA, age 33 and Sofia DASILVA age 31, of Southridge Street in Oshawa are charged with: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Production of Controlled Substance. Both accused were released on an Undertaking with Conditions.
