In conjunction with her latest project The Other Its – which questions our tendency to hoard instead of archive and negates the purpose or use value of objects in favour of creating a myth around their burial – artist Christine Swintak is leading a time capsule workshop that gives the public the rare opportunity to contribute to the creation of a permanent relic only to be known by word of mouth.

The Timeless Capsule Workshop invites participants to bring object(s) that are interesting to them in form or story but that they are willing to never see again. These objects will be permanently buried in the foundation of the century old school house that is now home of Artscape Youngplace.

Participants may bring 1 – 5 medium to large size objects or up to 10 if the number includes smaller objects. Chosen objects must be nonflammable and noncombustible.

All are welcome at this free workshop but with a maximum capacity of 24 participants, spots will run out fast! To reserve a position at this myth building ceremony email ayp@torontoartscape.on.ca.

If you have any questions regarding object parameters, email aypcurator@torontoartscape.on.ca.
