16 year old boy charged in the shooting outside Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute, Toronto

On Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 12:30 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting outside Winston Churchill Collegiate Institute, 2239 Lawrence Avenue East.

It is alleged that:

– an altercation occurred on the west side of the school, between a boy and a group of males who were sitting in a vehicle,

– the boy approached the vehicle and fired a shot at the vehicle, then fled the area.

There were minor injuries sustained by one of the males seated in the vehicle.

On Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 9 p.m., a 16-year-old boy, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Carry Concealed Weapon,
2) Point Firearm,
3) Attempted Murder While using Certain Firearm,
4) Discharge Firearm Endanger Life,
5) Careless Use of a Firearm,
6) Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,
7) Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,
8) Weapons Dangerous,
9) Assault with Weapon,
10) two counts of Fail to Comply Undertaking given to O.I.C.

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Monday, March 28, 2011, at 10 a.m., room 408.

He cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
