Man arrested in connection with arson, Blacks Harbour, N.B

A 41-year old man from St. George has been arrested in connection with a house fire that took place in Blacks Harbour during the early morning hours of Saturday, March 26, 2011.

District 1 RCMP were called to the fire by the Blacks Harbour Fire Department. A single-family residence was completely destroyed by the fire. The police investigation led to the identification of a suspect, who was arrested later in the day. The suspect was subsequently released on strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in St. Stephen Provincial Court in May, 2011, to face related charges.

The investigation has determined that the suspect and the owners of the residence were known to each other, and the incident is not believed to have been random.
