Our Story:
This is The Sound is a short dramatic film set in 1998 that follows divorcing parents Lily and Robert, and their six-year-old hearing impaired child, Samantha. Robert is battling a gambling addiction, has moved out from the family home, is trying to make peace with his mistakes, and is coming to terms with his new reality. Lily, a once promising music composer for animated films, gave up her career to parent their two children, and assist in Samantha’s medical needs. Samantha is having a difficult time adjusting to school, and is being bullied. She feels isolated, confused and at fault for her family’s situation. Her doctor suggests a cochlear implant – a device that would allow Samantha to hear better, but her parents are undecided and become pitted against each other.
