Violinist and guest director Rodolfo Richter
Tourists flocked to 17th-century Italy to devour the new “baroque” style, finding music that was fresh, exhilarating, and even shocking in its use of free form and improvisation. This tour of music by the early Italian innovators – Castello, Uccellini, and Marini – has been programmed to compare and contrast with the later masters they inspired, Corelli and Vivaldi.
Acclaimed violin virtuoso Rodolfo Richter returns to direct this concert, which also features the Tafelmusik solo concerto debut of our own Cristina Zacharias, as well as a seasonal treat for all, Corelli’s beloved “Christmas Concerto,” with its celebrated pastoral finale.
