VancouverWhitecapslogoVancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre underwent a successful meniscectomy to his left knee on Tuesday, September 6. 

A product of the Whitecaps FC Residency program, the 18-year-old made one start in the Major League Soccer Reserve League this season, as Whitecaps FC reserves suffered a 2-1 away defeat to LA Galaxy reserves on June 20. This summer, the native of Hollywood, Florida, also made five appearances for 450 minutes of action during the Residency team’s United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League campaign. 

A former member of the United States U-17 Residency Program, Sylvestre appeared for the USA U-20 national team during a 2-1 friendly defeat to France U-20’s in Vichy, France, on May 19. 

Whitecaps FC visit New York Red Bulls this Saturday, September 10, at 4:30 p.m. PT. Vancouver’s match at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, will be broadcast live on Sportsnet Pacific, TEAM 1040, Bell mobile devices, as well as online at MLS MatchDay Live. 

Whitecaps FC return to Bell Pitch at Empire Field on Saturday, September 24, to hostPacific Northwest rivals Seattle Sounders FC.
