The book “Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy” is set to be published by 14th September by Hyperion books. In an interview with the first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy it was revealed that the President John F. Kennedy did not approve the idea of Vice President Lyndon Johnson taking over the office after him.
Even though Kennedy had chosen Johnson as his sucessor formally in 1960. However, according to Jacqueline the reality was much different. She told historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. that behind the public’s eye the two men her husband and her brother, were plotting against the success of Johnson. This was because Kennedy did not believe Johnson had the spark to be the president of America.
However, even after John F. Kennedy’s assasination in 1963, Lyndon Johnson took over the office.
