Oshawa Power defeat the London Lightning 88-85

The Oshawa Power held on for an exciting, and hard fought victory over their 401 rivals the London Lighting 88-85 in front of a crowd of well over 1,700 raucous fans at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa.

 

The win was revenge for a Power team that were anxious to get back on the floor and avenge Sunday afternoon‟s loss to the same London Lightning team just a few days prior.

 

York University Alum Tut Ruach was the game high point man with 22 points and added 5 assists, he continued his strong play at the point guard position.

 

NBL Canada number one overall draft pick Morgan Lewis had a break out game pouring in 21 points and 7 rebounds in a complete performance on both ends of the floor. He showed his nice touch from behind the arc nailing four of four three point attempts.

 

“This is it,” said Power Head Coach Mark Strickland after the game, “I tried to tell them to have fun, all we have to do is keeping working, and keep improving.”

Speaking of improvement, small forward Akeem Wright bounced back from a tough showing in London on Sunday afternoon with an 8 point, 5 rebound game, but more importantly knocked down two clutch free throws to seal the victory for the Power.

 

The Oshawa Power begin their inaugural National Basketball League of Canada campaign on the road on Sunday October 30 at 1:05 p.m. against the Quebec Kebs at Laval University. The Power will play their regular season home opener on Thursday, November 3 at the General Motors Centre, where they will tip off against the Moncton Miracles at 7:30 p.m.
