Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday said the law and order situation in the country had improved, but it was not yet ideal.

Replying to a question, he rejected the impression that PML-N was playing the role of a friendly opposition. The entire nation is aware of PML-N’s behavior towards the PPP, he said. Responding to another query, he said they had never used non-parliamentary language against anyone at the party level. “If anybody (PML-N) has an objection on any issue, he or she must take up it in parliament”.

Regarding Shahbaz Sharif’s harsh statements against the president, he hoped Shahbaz would perhaps not utter such statements in future. Answering to a reporter’s query, Malik said at an appropriate time, he would debunk the myth about Imran Khan’s public meeting in Lahore and reveal who had provided the flags and people for the success of the show.

The PPP has decided to contest the Senate election jointly with the PML-Q in the Punjab besides adopting a tough attitude against the PML-N.

The estranged MPAs of PML-N would also be contacted, they further decided. Khosa said Imran had dislodged the PML-N politically. Rehman said surprise raids will be conducted by personnel of the FIA to check use of mobile phones and Internet by certain prisoners.

“There are reports that certain jail inmates are using these facilities in connivance with the jail authorities,” He said the FIA had been directed to launch a countrywide operation and conduct surprise raids to stop the use of mobile and Internet service, being provided illegally to some prisoners in different jails.
