A court in Bulacan announced a punishment of 30 years of imprisonment on Tuesday for the alleged leader of a carjack gang Raymond Dominguez.

The punishment was announced by the Malolos Regional Trial Court (RTC) which declared him guilty of snatching a Toyota Fortuner from Danilo Escoto, who had filed the case against him on 14th January, 2010. Alongside announcing the punishment of 17 up till 30 years of imprisonment, the court instructed the concerned officers to remove him from his detention cell in Taguig and shift him to New Bilibid Prison at the earliest.

Eyewitnesses in the court inform that the court had given the decision after listening to statements of one of the police officers and two eyewitnesses of the car snatching incident. However, he was convicted in a robbery case as well. According to the case proceedings, Dominguez had two accomplices as well who remain at large until now. There is no progress on identifying those who alleged criminals.

The presidential spokesperson of Palace Malacañang, Edwin Lacierda said, “We congratulate Public Prosecutor Maureen Abad Moises for her capable handling of the case. Its resolution proves that with honest and committed public servants, our judicial system can work effectively toward fulfilling its duties to the public.”
