The Montreal police have finally detained four people connected with the recent smoke bomb attacks in city’s metro system. According to the authorities, four people came to the police centre with their lawyers and took all the blame.

“That could be mischief, but we’ll see what else it could be,” said police Sgt. Ian Lafrenière.

Earlier, police had released the pictures of suspected rebels, for which, the department thanked all those who sent them pictures and provided useful information. The gratitude was paid through twitter.

“Thank you all for your help!” the Montreal police said on its Twitter page.

The incident took place on Thursday near the peak rush hour. It seems like smoke filled the stations at Jean Talon, Lionel Groulx, Prefontaine and Snowdon, eventually halting the entire network.

“The three events took place simulaneously, so it’s hard to believe the four same individuals would have committed that,” Lafrenière said.

Authorities tried to fix the problem as soon as possible but all their attempts were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, another smoke attack took place which forced the authorities to shutdown. The episode went on till around 10 a.m. Thursday.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal says the recent smoke bomb attacks lead to at least $11 million loss while the Montreal Economic Institute estimates it to be around $9.3 million.

Many people who heard about the incident drove to work instead, and streets throughout Montreal were overflowing with cars. The protests have now started to leave disastrous impact on the transport network of Montreal. Even ambulances are finding it difficult to rush through the jammed roads.
