The Black Caps have fallen short in the fifth and final One Day International against India in Wellington, slumping to a 35-run defeat at Westpac Stadium.
Chasing 253, the Black Caps were in trouble early, losing Henry Nicholls for eight, with the score at 18/1.
Colin Munro followed not long after, dragging onto the stumps on his return to the side, before Ross Taylor was judged LBW for one, leaving New Zealand at 38/3.
Kane Williamson and Tom Latham provided a short resistance, adding 67 for the fourth wicket, before the skipper was out caught in the deep trying to pull Kedar Jadhav for six, dismissed for 39.
Latham would fall not long after for 37, out LBW to Yuzvendra Chahal, before Jimmy Neesham provided some late impetus with 44.
It wouldn’t be enough though, as Neesham was run out by Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni, losing sight of the ball during an LBW shout.
Despite some late fireworks from Matt Henry (17 not out), the Black Caps would still fall 35-runs short of the target, all out for 217 as India claimed a 4-1 series victory.
