Houston man Phillip R. Prater dies in a fatal traffic accident at West Loop North

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3700 West Loop North (West Interstate Highway 610 North) about 1:10 a.m. on Sunday (July 8).

The victim, Phillip R. Prater, 41, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer T. Van reported:

Mr. Prater was driving his maroon Mercedes S550 northbound in the 3700 block of the West Loop North when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the center dividing wall.  Paramedics transported Prater to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Doctors advised he suffered a heart attack and blunt trauma.
