2nd match of the day USA vs South Africa, will decide whether USA will play for 7th position or will have to play for 9th position will begin at 10:45 BST on Monday, August 6, at Riverbank Arena in London’s Olympic Park.

South Africa is ranked No. 12 in the world and considered the underdogs of Pool B. They have struggled hard to secure a victory in the preliminary rounds and with a record of 0-0-4 are ranked last in their pool. South African team remains unable to enter even a single point in their scoring card. However, South African striker Piete Coetzee holds the women’s hockey world record for goals, with more than 230 in her illustrious career and will be posing threat for the U.S. team. Both teams will be aiming to grab a win in their last group match of the Olympic campaign.

The U.S. had had high hopes of contending for a medal in London, but their Olympic dream was shattered Saturday night, when New Zealand walked away with a 3-2 victory. Now they are looking to finish this campaign by achieving final victory and fighting for a place higher out of 12 teams.
