Monday’s action in Flushing Meadows gave rise to excitement and few surprises, as competitors do their best to be the 2012 U.S. Open Champion.
With each side of the draw entering quarterfinal action, the real contenders are about to be decided. After Andy Murray’s victory over Milos Raonic in the day’s final match, he seems to be a solid contender to Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
The day’s two biggest moments came with Mardy Fish’s shocking withdrawal from the tournament, prior to his match against Federer and Agnieszka Radwanska’s surprising loss to Roberta Vinci.

After yet another memorable day of tennis at the 2012 U.S. Open, the tournament heads into Day 9 on Tuesday, complete with some exciting matchups.
Day 8 saw Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych and Marin Cilic advance to the quarterfinals. Serena Williams, Agnieszka Radwanska, Sara Errani and Ana Ivanovic advanced on the women’s side.
Day 9 boasts some top seeds on both the men’s and women’s side. Andy Roddick looks for the upset against No. 7 seed Juan Martin del Potro. The 30-year-old American has decided to officially retire after this tournament.
