The Highland Park Ebell Club (Los Angeles, CA)
Now concluding its first full season, Pacific Opera Project transforms Puccini’s Parisian bohemians to Highland Park hipsters at, fittingly, the Highland Park Ebell Club. An 1830s Parisian garret becomes a present-day Los Angeles loft apartment during a particularly cold SoCal winter. The artist, poet, philosopher, musician, seamstress and actress characters become a graphic designer, screenplay writer, English major, indie-rocker, fashion designer, and … actress … as the group deals with the timeless issues of life, love, jealousy and overdue bills. Pacific Opera Project is committed to introducing opera to new audiences, and this production is presented by an all-star cast with minimal sets, low production costs and short rehearsal time.
