The top seeded and China’s impressive player Chen Long showed a wonderful performance and reached into Men’s Singles quarter-final after taming his younger compatriot Chen Yuekun in round-of-16 clash at Li Ning China Open 2012 at Shanghai, on Thursday, November 15 with a striking margin of 21-19 and 21-10 in 39 minutes.
Men’s Singles maestro and World No.4, Chen Jin served notice of his class in Li Ning China Open and ensured his presence in the quarter-final round after outclassing Hu Yun of Hong Kong in just 26 minutes with a favourable result of 21-10 and 21-17.
Wang Yihan, World No.1 and the top shuttler in China, secured her berth in the top-eight after working a little hard in pre-quarter-final clash when she overpowered Japan’s Eriko Hirose in 47 minutes with a close 21-19 and 21-19 score on the board.
China’s prime female shuttler and World No.2, Li Xuerui stretched her winning streak after overpowering a lower ranked Thai opponent Busanan Ongbumrungpan in 51 minutes for a favourable result of 13-21, 21-13 and 21-12 in the local badminton arena of Shanghai.
Women’s Doubles team Christinna Pedersen-Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark continued their successful run and marched into the quarter-finals after overwhelming Poon Lok Yan-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong in after one hour before ending battle with final figures of 18-21, 21-18 and 21-16.
