Jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval defected from his native Cuba in 1990 to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Dizzy Gillespie. Known for his blazing melodies and technically perfect technique, Sandoval has since wowed audiences around the world with the rich tones of his slower numbers and the electric storm of his faster tempos. Always a crowdpleaser, Sandoval’s success has won him multiple Grammy awards, and audiences clamor to see his live performance which can range from the familiar sounds of his Afro-Cuban jazz style to more orchestral jazz, standards and classical pieces. Sandoval will bring his big band to the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Consisting of mostly Los Angeles-based musicians, the Big Band accentuates the rich diversity and musical heritage of Arturo Sandoval.
