Stittsville Police is investigating what is being called a double-murder and suicide, as two young children and their homemaker mother were found dead at their home. All high-level crime detectives have begun collecting evidence from crime scene at 25 Granite Ridge Dr. on Tuesday morning, to build up their investigation into the deaths. The dead bodies of Alison Easton, and her two children, namely 10-years-old Alex and 6-years-old Katie, were removed overnight.
The incident was called in by the children’s father, Jon Corchis, who placed the 911 call after returning to home from work on Monday night at 5:30 p.m. and finding out the horrific scene of dead bodies of his house. Both children, namely Alex and Katie, were declared dead at the scene, while their mother, Easton, was allegedly alive at emergency crews’ arrival but soon died sometime after. The vice-principal of Stittsville Public School, i.e. situated just across the street of crime scene, Donna Boyle, mentioned on Tuesday morning that grief counselors and “tragic events response team” will be available for any needy students or teachers.
In an official statement, The Ottawa District School Board expressed its condolences to the family of deceased on Tuesday morning. The board statement mentioned that “the Stittsville Public School community is in mourning.” A neighbor of the crime scene, Cathy Bureau, stated that “I’m sick to my stomach. I was hoping it wasn’t true. Alex wasn’t at school today, but with the flu and everything nobody thought twice about it.”
