Odyssey Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)
Written and performed by real-life husband and wife Winnie Holzman (Wicked, Emmy-nominated creator of My So-Called Life) and Paul Dooley (Breaking Away, Curb Your Enthusiasm) in their first-ever collaborative work, Assisted Living is a comedic and poignant look at the ways we impact one another’s lives — often without even knowing it. The play centers around four very different characters, including Frank, a beloved soap opera star who faces an uncertain future, his former makeup artist and longtime girlfriend, an elderly curmudgeon who feels abandoned in his assisted living facility, and the curmudgeon’s daughter, who just so happens to be Frank’s biggest fan. Directed by critically acclaimed Los Angeles theater director Larry Biederman.
