From Canada to Palestine: Stealing Water, Stealing Life Friday 19 April 2013 7 p.m. Room 5-150 Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) 252 Bloor Street West St. George subway stop (Bedford St. exit) Speakers: Deborah McGregor — Anishinaabe from Whitefish River First Nation Judy Deutsch — Independent Jewish Voices, Toronto The Canadian government deprives First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples across the country of adequate and safe drinking water and proper sewage facilities. Water resources are fouled by irresponsible actions of mining and oil corporations in search of profits. Similarly, the Israeli government steals Palestinian water resources and deprives the people of adequate drinking water. The Jewish National Fund — a registered charity in Canada — contributes to water theft by acquiring Palestinian land and transforming it to the detriment of the Palestinian population.
