Gallery Catalyst, opening on Queen Street West at the beginning of May, will be at the forefront to a completely new concept within a gallery setting that has yet to be seen in Canada. Gallery Catalyst opening May 4th 2013, at 666 Queen St. West, is located deep within the heart of the gallery district. Featuring many young, underground artists, Gallery Catalyst maintains one of its most important goals, to promote local artists from within the community. Owner Brian Liss, who founded Affairs of the Art in 1983 and changed the name to Liss Gallery in 1996, now located in Yorkville currently represents over 90 artists. This year, Brian decided to turn his attention to another part of Toronto, Queen West. The inception of Gallery Catalyst came from a passion for original contemporary art to be accessible and affordable, while keeping the gallerys direct focus on Toronto artists. Each piece you find at Gallery Catalyst will be one of a kind including the custom framing available onsite. The gallerys revolutionary opus alters a traditional space into a welcoming, self-service exhibition. This idea is fashioned by a simple concept, one format for one price. Which is the same for all artists. Some of the artists featured are Johnathan Ball, Cody Smith, Adrienne Dagg, and Tanja Tiziana. By offering three sizes of art for three prices, all of the artists are then represented on an equal footing, making original contemporary art affordable and accessible. This policy offers art lovers a simple and suitable means of purchasing contemporary art. Gallery Catalyst is available as an event space for artists and corporate events alike.
