Abu NusaybahBritain’s intelligence agencies came under fresh inquiry on Saturday over claims that MI5 approached and tried to recruit one of the two Islamists accused to be involved in the murder of a soldier in London.

A childhood friend of murder suspect Michael Adebolajo, Abu Nusaybah was arrested by counter-terrorism police immediately after he made his claims in an interview on Friday night.

Mr. Nusaybah has claimed that Adebolajo, one of two prime murder suspects of 25-year-old Lee Rigby outside a military barracks on Wednesday afternoon, was approached by MI5 agents after he came back from Kenya almost half year ago.

As soon as Mr. Nusaybah finished his interview, he gets arrested by three counter terrorism officers.

On Friday night, Scotland Yard has also confirmed “a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2000.

“The man has been taken to a South London police station, where he remains in custody.

“Search warrants are being executed at two residential addresses in East London.”

A security source has argued Mr. Nusaybah’s claim regarding MI5 was “plausible” and added: “It is not uncommon for MI5 to approach suspects.

“Either they continue with what they are doing then their lives will be made very difficult, or you can speak to us.”

An Expert, Anthony Glees has also confirmed the statement: “There is only a very small number of MI5 officers who come from a Muslim, Asian or Afro-Caribbean background, so they have their alternative and that is turning people into sources.”

The authorities are currently investigating Mr. Nusaybah’s claims to see if any offer could have contributed to 25-year-old Lee’s murder in Woolwich, South East London.
