Lethbridge was hosted of a sudden gigantic storm that hit it on Wednesday night, alarming all of its residents and resulting in considerable damage. Residents reported intense damage caused to several trailers at an RV park near the County of Lethbridge Airport, whereas robust and sturdy winds also took down several large trees and fences in other areas. The wind gusts reached as high as 140 km/h per hour during its peak time, resulting in damage to the garage door of a show home as it tore off a section of its roof.

Residents have reported that even though the storm didn’t last long, the city still had to suffer minor flooding because of the heavy rain and hail. John Jacobson reported that “all of a sudden it hit, and it was just white with hail and wind.” Another resident of west Lethbridge, Peter McNally, highlighted the intense damage caused by short storm, stating that “I mean, there’s trailers flipped over, uh, debris everywhere. And the streets were basically flooded.”

Jen Orr, a resident of Lethbridge, alleged that it was extremely dangerous to be outside with all the debris. He stated that “a lot of things flying around – large things. We watched portapotties falling over and trailers tumbling and things blowing around outside.” So far no reports have been made regarding any injuries caused by the thunderstorm. According to the forecast of Environment Canada, Lethbridge is expected to be relieved of constant rain on Thursday, although the winds will still keep at around 50 km/h.
