On Day 7, Mo Farah – the British distance runner won his second gold medal of the 2013 World Championships after winning the 5,000 meters race. He had won the 10,000 meters on Day 1. It’s the second double for Farah after he won gold in both events at the 2012 London Olympics. He finished almost 30 seconds ahead of silver medalist Hagos Gebrhiwet.
Aside from Farah, Tatyana Lysenko won gold in the women’s hammer throw; Aleksandr Menkov won gold in the men’s hammer throw; David Storl took home gold in the men’s shot put; Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished first in the women’s 200 meters; and the United States won the 4×400 meter men’s relay.
