Slashed tires. Stolen rainbow flags. Hate graffiti. A series of hate crimes have occurred in our West End neighbourhood targeted at the queer identity affirmed by our rainbow flags. But rather than retreating in fear, our community is affirming our collective desire to build a neighbourhood, and a world, based on inclusion, support and love. Our response to hate is a celebration of inclusion. On Saturday, September 14th we want to cover our neighbourhood(s) with rainbow flags. Join us on Saturday at 11:30 am at Runnymede Collegiate (569 Jane Street – North Parking Lot) for a community BBQ where you can meet your neighbours, celebrate building a LGBTQ-positive neighbourhood, and pick up a rainbow flag to fly for the day. Let’s make it clear that hate has no place in our community. We stand for inclusion and we stand together. All are welcome. Bring your families, bring your friends, and bring your rainbows. Please stand with us.
