This year's festival will be memorable in many ways than one because this year, besides the other events, there will be a special tribute given to the legendary actor (late) Pran, who passed away in July this year.

While the festival will also see the screening of three of Pran's films, viz., Jis Desh Main Ganga Behti Hai, Zanjeer and Madhumati, it will be attended by his son Sunil Sikand and daughter Pinky Bhalla. Talking about the festival, Shankar Mohan (IFFI's director) said that as per the festival's custom, IFFI pays tribute to renowned film personalities who set for heavenly abode in the year preceding the festival. He also added that IFFI invites the said person's near and dear ones to attend the screenings of his/ her best works.

Readers may note that a special homage was paid to the (late) Yash Chopra at the festival last year.
