Moksha Yoga Etobicoke will help to make children’s wishes come true when it holds a full-day of hot yoga Karma classes on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in support of Make-A-Wish Toronto and Central Ontario. All profits from the event will go to the charitable organization. With a goal of raising $1,000 for Make-A-Wish, the yoga studio is calling on the Etobicoke community for support. For a minimum donation of five dollars and the option to donate a children’s toy, all members of the public are invited to visit the Moksha Yoga Etobicoke’s 1138 The Queensway studio for yoga classes at 10am, 4:30pm, 6:15pm and 8pm. Snacks and beverages will be available at the end of each class. Make-A-Wish Canada, an affiliate of Make-A-Wish International, is dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions and has granted more than 310,000 wishes since inception. Supporting a cause that enriches lives and brings hope and strength to children is something that both Moksha Yoga Etobicoke owners, Gabriela Nicole Doiu and Catherine Braund-Pereira, feel passionately about. “We are both blessed to have many young children touch our lives and feel that all children’s dreams should be encouraged and supported.” Says Doiu. “We personally want to make a difference in as many children’s lives as possible since they are our future.” “We look forward to increasing awareness of Make-A-Wish within our local community.” Says Braund-Pereira. “This will be our first-annual fundraising initiative with them and we anticipate this event growing into an annual tradition within our studio and among our local community.” With a strong desire to give back to the community and a commitment to taking the practice off the mat, the studio supports a number of organizations through Karma classes, held at 4pm every Sunday. Throughout the months of November and December, all of the profits from regular Karma classes will go to Make-A-Wish (except November 24 when profits will go to Wellspring).
