The World Cup 2013 will be continued on Saturday November 23rd, 2013 at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia. The tournament will be ending on Sunday November 24, 2012.
As compared to the full two-man team set-up over the past six decades, this year 26 countries are taking part in this tournament that features 52 players in two-man teams.
However, it also includes 8 more players, that are Belgian-born Ryder Cup star Nicolas Colsaerts, Fiji’s Vijay Singh and Welshman Jamie Donaldson. They are taking part at their own to make up a field of 60.
The United States coming-up as defending champions as they won the event record 24 times. Matt Kuchar is coming back from his 2011 victory as he teaming-up with Kevin Streelman. However,they will find a excellent amount of competition in the field this year. For the host nation, Adam Scott the world’s second-ranked player will be teaming-up with Jason Day.
Although, 52 players in two teams will be fighting for the $1 million first place team prize, the other eight individual players will be ineligible for this reward. Nevertheless, all 60 are eligible for the individual championship prize that includes the $1.2 million first prize money.
Thomas Bjorn of Denmark is leading the leaderboard at the Royal Melbourne on Friday to let off a 3-under 68 and take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the World Cup while American Kevin Streelman was in second place after shooting a 69. He along with Matt Kuchar led the overall team standings for the U.S., with a three-stroke edge over Denmark and seven over Japan and Australia. Host team is mutually sharing the third in the individual stroke-play competition where Jason Day scored 70 and Ricardo Santos of Portugal scored 69.
