Toronto Centre has become the center stage for numerous high-profile campaign activities organized by the two main opposition leaders over the weekend, all of which aim to better their chances in the upcoming four byelections on Monday that are deemed as significant tests for the Liberals and NDP.

Leader of New Democratic Party, Thomas Mulcair, was seen shaking hands with his party’s candidate and former journalist, Linda McQuaig, in Toronto on Sunday, in attempt to boost her chances of becoming the first-ever NDP MP for Toronto Centre. Whereas on the other hand, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau also took stage in Toronto on Saturday along with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne at the headquarters of their party candidate, Chrystia Freeland, who is a journalist and a newbie in politics. In addition to that, former MP for Toronto Centre, Bob Rae, also vouched for her fellow Liberals’ and their determination in preserving the 20-year-old political fortress. He addressed a letter to all residents in the riding, asserting that the party is keeping track of who voted and who didn’t, as he noted that “when the list of Toronto Centre residents who voted is released, I hope your name is on it.”

Even though Elections Canada doesn’t release lists of individual’s voting records, Rae and Liberal officials disclosed that all parties have access to lists of which citizens have cast ballots. Rae alleged that “by the close of the poll everyone knows who’s voted and who hasn’t,” adding that “although, of course, we don’t know who anyone voted for.”
