Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party has officially resigned from his post as the Chief Minister of Delhi in less than two months after taking his oath. He resigned after his push for the anti-corruption Jan Lokpal Bill was blocked in the state legislature by law-makers from the Congress and the BJP. ‘They know that if this law is brought in, their leaders will end up in jail,’ Kejriwal announced at his party office to a group of cheering supporters. He stood by his words that he will ‘give up the chief minister’s office not once but 1000 times to fight against corruption.’

Whereas the the Bharatiya Janata Party consider it as a drama to attract attention. After their meeting in Delhi was over, the party leader Vijay Goel said, ‘We have discussed the crisis caused by Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. This was scripted and planned.’On the Jan Lokpal Bill, he had to say that the ‘Lokpal Bill is not Arvind Kejriwal’s property. This is only a political drama.’ He further added that ‘We will hold a dharna at Jantar Mantar on February 18 to protest against AAP.

Answering questions of forming a government in the national capital he replied, ‘We don’t want to comment on forming of government right now. Will the assembly be dissolved or suspended we don’t know. We are ready even if elections take place tomorrow.’Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP government has already been asked to run as a caretaker government in Delhi for the next few days as an interim arrangement and until the election results are announced. The sources in the Election Commission have revealed that the panel is all ready to conduct fresh polls in Delhi alongside the Lok Sabha elections. They are due to take place in May.
