The Supreme Court ordered a non-bailable warrant against the Sahara Group Chief Suborto Roy ton Wednesday. The court ordered the warrant after Roy failed to appear before the court in the case related to the non-refund of 24000 crore rupees to investors by two companies owned by him. The court refused to Roy’s excuse that he was unable to appear because of his mother’s failing health.

Subrata Roy’s arrest may be imminent as a team of the UP police landed at the doorstep of his house this Thursday afternoon. The police action was apparent when a team of the Gomti Nagar police station reached the ‘Sahara City’ at his residence at approximately 4.30 pm to execute warrant and conducted vigorous searches inside the house. The search inside the 270 acres residence went into vain as the team was unable to find Roy “The team is there to execute the non-bailable warrant issued by Supreme Court”, said the Circle officer, Gomti Nagar, VS Mishra.

The SHO Gomti Nagar Ajit Singh Chauhan said Roy was not present inside the Sahara premises. “We have searched the premises. Roy was not found there”, he informed the reporters after coming out of the residence. Another official told they met his mother and doctors but Roy was nowhere to be found. Roy’s lawyers had told the court yesterday he was on the bed side of his ailing mother and holding her hands. Asked whether the police searched Sahara hospital, Chauhan said that Roy was also not present at the hospital.
