The state Minister of Information Hon. Philip Jiben Ogal disclosed that the state Ministers of Local Government and Education Hon. Pal Ruac Duop and James Kun Joak and the Mayor of Malakal James Puot Gatluak were sacked by the state Governor Simon Kun Puoc for their alleged support to the rebels.
The government spokesperson said the whereabouts of the sacked politicians were not known to the cabinet until their dismissal.
The minister explained that the trio was waited for since February to return to work in vain. “We ran out of patience,” Minister Jiben told Gurtong in an exclusive interview.
Senior officials in UNS government have since mid – December rebelled against the government; joining the new armed internal conflict which has seriously affected the state.
Gathoth Gatkuoth, a former state gubernatorial advisor defected to the rebels aligned to former vice president Dr Riek Machar.
When Malakal fell to rebels in February, Maj. Gen. Gatkuoth, who is also the former Nasir Commissioner announced himself the governor of the state as he formed a new a new cabinet including the now sacked former mayor Malakal town.
