Doctors have announced that it may take until three months for Pierre Karl Péladeau to heal properly, however he is expected to return to the National Assembly in a wheelchair before time. Mr. Péladeau had a severe bike accident on Sunday in the Eastern Townships, which resulted in a fractured pelvis, right shoulder blade, collarbone and scapula, and five broken ribs.

According to an orthopedic doctor at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke, Bernard Larue, the fractured pelvis will not allow him to walk properly for at least three months and so he will require a wheelchair to attend sessions in the National Assembly meanwhile. The renowned media magnate was elected MNA of St-Jérôme on April 7. Doctors claim that he might have to stay in the hospital for at least up to a week due to the severity of his injuries.

A neurologist confirmed that Péladeau’s brain scan showed nothing fearful except from two trauma points on his face and neck, so he did not suffer any brain damage in his fall. Consequently, Larue assured that he is not in danger and there was no need for surgery. Furthermore, she confirmed that Péladeau was alert and doing well. Mr. Péladeau had to miss the opening of the National Assembly on Tuesday due to the accident. Reports claim that he struck a pothole going down a steep gravel hill. Larue shared that “he told us he wants to go back to work and he can, but he can’t walk.”
