A 33-year-old Moncton man has pleaded to five charges following an investigation by the RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.
The man who cannot be identified because of a court issued publication ban in order to protect the identity of the victim pleaded guilty to making child pornography available. He appeared in Moncton provincial court on May 16, 2014 and was sentenced to two years plus a day to be served at a federal penitentiary.
He also pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, sexually touching a person under the age of 14, inviting a young person under the age of 16 to sexually touch and making child pornography. Sentencing for these charges will take place at a later date.
The charges were laid following an ICE investigation resulting in the search of a Moncton home on May 8 at which time investigators seized computers and data storage equipment containing child sexual abuse images.
The investigation is continuing.
