Shoojit Sircar reunites Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika

USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…If all had gone well Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika would have been seen together four years ago in a film called Shoebite, a.k.a Johnny Walker.

Due to a production dispute, Shoebite got shelved. It was Shoojit Sircar's ardent wish to bring this untried pair together. Shoojit finally got a chance to do so in the serial Yudh of which he is the creative supervisor.

Insiders insist that when a screen wife was being considered for Amitabh Bachchan, names like Deepti Naval and Nafisa Ali came up.

It was Shoojit who insisted on Sarika doing the role.

Says a source, "It was Shoojit Sircar who convinced Sarika to do the show. He is the creative consultant over the project."

Shoojit says more than him it is Amitabh Bachchan who supervised the proceedings during the shooting of Yudh. "Mr Bachchan's years of experience came in handy for all of us. It's a big series. So Amitabh Bachchan needed a bouncing board. I came in just to help and off-load. I haven't directed the series. It was Anurag Kashyap and Ribhu Dasgupta who were behind the camera."

Incidentally, Sarika's role in Yudh is inspired by Waheeda Rehman's character in Yash Chopra's film Trishul.
