‘Suzy Lake: Playing with Time’ 2014,61:48 minutes is Annette Mangaard’s feature length documentary on photographer Suzy Lake, one of the foundational feminist artists to evolve out of the heyday of the 1960s. A master of the art of self-portraiture, Lake influenced Cindy Sherman as well as a host of other female photographers. Lake makes art that addresses politics, gender and issues of youth, beauty and aging while reflecting on her own journey through time. Interviews with Lucy Lippard, Connie Butler, Mary Beth Edelson, Franoise Sullivan, Martha Wilson, Barbara Astman and Lisa Steele tell a story of how much has changed in the worlds of feminism and art and yet how much things remain the same.

Annette Mangaard has written, and directed fifteen films in more than a decade as an independent filmmaker. Born in Denmark, Mangaard immigrated to Canada at a young age. Mangaards richly imaged film style is anchored in her studies at the Ontario College of Art where she earned an honors degree in painting and printmaking. Her films have been shown at festivals around the world, and in 2009 Mangaard was invited to present a retrospective of her films at the Cinematheque Palais de Glace in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Past retrospectives include solo screenings at the Pacific Cinematheque in Vancouver, Canada in 1990 and in 1991 at the Kino Arsenal Cinematheque in Berlin, West Germany.
