David Henry Hwang Theater (Los Angeles, CA)
Looking for the perfect gift? Or looking to get yourself out more in 2015? East West Players have just the ticket — or 4. Their 4-ticket Flex Pass lets you choose any combination of shows during their 50th Anniversary season. First up is Washer/Dryer, a world-premiere farce that questions whether all is fair in love and real estate. Next is The Who’s Tommy, the classic rock opera about a boy who goes deaf, mute and blind after witnessing a murder. Follow the Pinball Wizard as he learns about fame, forgiveness, redemption and rock ‘n’ roll. In Chinglish, an American businessman desperate to score a lucrative contract for his family’s firm travels to China only to learn how much he doesn’t understand. This uproarious new comedy is by East West’s fave playwright, David Henry Hwang. Wrapping up the season is a wild card — a new play, commissioned especially for East West’s 50th anniversary, that’ll be announced in the spring.
