Five-time Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury returns to the stage in her Tony-winning role as Madame Arcati in Michael Blakemore’s revival of Noël Coward’s supernatural comedy Blithe Spirit. Blakemore, the Tony-winning director of Kiss Me, Kate, previously steered this fresh take on Coward’s classic to smash-hit engagements on Broadway and London’s West End, and now it comes to the Ahmanson. Downton Abbey‘s Charles Edwards stars as Charles Condomine, a novelist who invites the medium Madame Arcati (Lansbury) to his house for a séance as research for his latest novel. But Arcati unwittingly summons the ghost of Charles’ dead wife, Elvira — much to the chagrin of his current wife. Now Charles is caught in the middle of a contentious love triangle from beyond the grave.
